The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has opened its portal for applications for NBTE Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) accreditation, supported by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Federal Government encourages Skill Training Centres (STCs), Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs), and Mastercraft Persons (MCPs) to apply for accreditation. Successful applicants will become eligible for government funding to support their training programs through the TVET initiative.

Accreditation Requirements

I. Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs):

Must be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Must implement a National Skills Qualification (NSQ)-based curriculum.
Must have at least one qualified instructor per trade.
Must maintain an instructor-to-student ratio not exceeding 1:40.
Must have a designated Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) for each trade.
Must appoint an Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM) for each trade, or engage a part-time professional as needed.

II. Skill Training Centres (STCs):

Must be registered with the CAC.
Must implement an NSQ-based curriculum.
Must have a qualified instructor or a senior artisan with at least NSQ Level 3 certification for each program.
Must have a designated Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA).
Must appoint a certified Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM) or engage a part-time expert as necessary.

III. Mastercraft Persons (MCPs):

Must possess either a CAC registration or a National Identification Number (NIN).
Must implement an NSQ-based curriculum.
Must have at least one qualified instructor or an experienced artisan with NSQ Level 3 certification.
Must have training facilities that include workshops and restrooms.
Must maintain records of past training programs and certifications awarded.
