FG Approved Of 3927 Nigerian Customs Recruitment Officers For 2024/2025

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to recruit 3,927 customs officers for the 2024/2025 fiscal year. This decision, revealed through the official X account of the Federal Ministry of Finance, follows an approval by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to address staffing shortages identified during a detailed needs assessment. The customs recruitment drive aims to enhance the operational capacity of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

In addition to the recruitment news, the Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB), during its 61st regular meeting on December 18, 2024, chaired by Minister Wale Edun, approved key appointments and promotions. One Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) and seven Assistant Comptrollers General (ACGs) were confirmed to fill gaps created by retirements, ensuring balanced representation across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. The appointees are:

  • DCG S. Chiroma (North-East)
  • ACG Z.M. Gaji (North-East)
  • ACG O.A. Adebakin (South-West)
  • ACG G.M. Omale (North-Central)
  • ACG M.S. Yusuf (North-Central)
  • ACG D.A. Nnadi (South-East)
  • ACG H.K. Ejibunu (North-Central)
  • ACG D. Hassan (North-East)

Moreover, 4,291 senior officers were promoted to higher ranks. These changes align with the Federal Character Policy as outlined in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023, which emphasizes inclusivity and institutional balance.
